Being a Little Witch

I started the Little Witch series with a goal in mind to help little witches of all ages find their way. Little Witches are new to the world of witchcraft and the occult and are looking for answers. They are not defined by sex, gender, race, age or religion. Anyone can be a little witch! Witches are kind and respectful to all people, animals, spirits and of course other little witches. They are friends and caretakers to the planet Earth. Little Witches are inclusive and show respect to all spiritual paths.

There’s a little witch in all of us.

Practical Magic

At heart, I’m a little witch. At this time, I’m in my 30s and I have two small children. I have been dabbling in the world of witchcraft and the occult for many years with my focus being on tarot and divination. I recognized that I am still a little witch because there is still so much to learn about the spiritual world and the magickal world around us.

My children are the reason that I made this book. At this time, they are 7 and 3 years old. Explaining my craft or any spiritual path to them at this time is difficult. Finding a book on the topic that’s fun and engaging is even more difficult. If you follow our Instagram account, you’ll see all of the books we’ve found that feature a witch or magick including classic works like The Wizard of Oz or indie Kickstarter publications like That Witch.

I am a writer. I’ve been writing since I was 10 years old. I have written everything from poetry to prose to plays. I enjoy variety as well as challenging my skills. This is my first time working on a children’s book. I’ve enjoyed it tremendously and I envision working on more books in the future.

There’s so much in the magickal world to look at and view through the little witch lens. We are embarking on a journey to learn all there is to learn so we can better ourselves.

Stay tuned for interviews, future blogs and more about witchcraft.

Moon & Sun

Moon Magick – using the power of the moon in your spells

One of the easiest and strongest ways to work with moon magick is with the power of the moon. Did you catch the latest new moon? The moon waxes and wanes, its energy changing and we can harness that moon magick power as we follow the changes in the lunar cycle. We are intuitively and intrinsically drawn to the moon. Each month as the moon shifts through different phases via shadow, we too change with the cycle.

The moon rules over our emotional selves as well as our feminine sides. It also rules over the day Monday (Moon-day is how I remember it).

The full moon represents completion and goals achieved, whereas the new moon represents new ideas forming and new beginnings. Do you feel extra emotional around the time of full or new moons? That’s moon magick.

New moons have just as much power as full moons. There are also super moons, harvest moons, blood moons and more.

Something to keep in mind is what sign of the zodiac the moon is in. Each sign will affect you differently, and if the moon is in your sign, expect to be feeling the energy extra intensely. For example, the moon is in Scorpio. You would expect to feel the need to delve into your feelings as deep as possible. You desire meaningful emotional exchanges now more than at any other time.

Moon magick is an easy way to get into the world of magick. Women are especially drawn to the moon and affected by its cycles. Lunar cycles include full moon, waxing gibbous, crescent, quarter moon, and waning gibbous.

What kind of spells are you going to perform during the next full or new moon? Let us know in the comments.

Q is for Quartz

Hey there Little Witches!

Clear Quartz is considered a master healer crystal. The meaning of clear quartz is spiritual growth and healing. There are many different kinds of quartz each with its own meaning and properties such as rose, snow and Smokey quartz.

“It’s an amazing amplifying stone, meaning that whatever you pour into it, will pour out tenfold. The clarity of its many faces can spark memory, hone concentration, and bring your whole being back to balance.” – Tiny Rituals

Clear quartz can be used in place of many crystals in little witches rituals. It is colorless and/or white. It harmonizes all chakras, works with all zodiac signs and enhances psychic ability.

Do you use quartz in your practice? What’s your favorite crystal, little witches?

Magick Alphabet

P is for Pagan

Paganism has been around for a very long time (think pre-Christian times) and felt a growing resurgence in the magickal community since the 1950s. Most Pagans are polytheistic, believing in multiple gods and goddesses. Nature is sacred to the pagan community and they believe that humans are a part of nature just like animals, trees, rocks and everything else that is part of nature. Some pagans believe in reincarnation as well.

Pagans have many festivals and ceremonies throughout the year including Imbolc, Beltane and Samhain. They also celebrate equinoxes.

Pagan beliefs vary wildly depending on the branch or kind of paganism. If you’re a pagan, tell us something about your beliefs in the comments.

Magick Alphabet

O is for Occult

The dictionary defines the occult as the mystical, magical and the supernatural. The occult includes topics that fall outside the realms of religion and science.

“The occult” is a category into which gets placed a range of beliefs from “spirits or fairies to parapsychological experiments, from UFO-abductions to Oriental mysticism, from vampire legends to channelling, and so on”. – Hanegraaff

The occult, coined in the 16th century, has changed over time. What does the occult mean to you?

Magick Alphabet

N is for Necronomicon

Many people still believe the Necronomicon to be real, but it’s actually a work of fiction. Created my H.P. Lovecraft, the Necronomicon is a fictional grimoire often referred to as the Book of the Dead. It is referenced many times in Lovecraft’s books including it’s first appearance in the book “The Hound” in 1924.

The book contains the details regarding The Old Ones, their history and how to summon them. An example of an Old One would be Cthulhu. It is described as being a leather bound book with metal clasps. It is a substantial text boasting over 700 pages. It has been referenced in many movies, books and television shows.

What’s your opinion of this magickal grimoire?

Magick Alphabet

M is for Magick

That’s magick with a K. Magick was first coined by Aleister Crowley. It was created as a way to differentiate between stage magic and otherworldly magick.

A fairly common explanation of magick is that it is a method of transforming the physical world through metaphysical means by employing ritual action. The practice of magick is to raise and direct energy to fulfill your intentions. One can do this through rituals, prayers, practice, meditation, etc.

There’s many different kinds of magick. There’s candle magick, altar magick, moon magick, green magick, etc.

What is your favorite? What does magick mean to you?

L is for Learn

What have you learned recently? How did you learn it? 🤔

Little witches are always learning. Learning and growing. If you’ve learned all you can learn about tarot, why not try your hand at reading Leonormand or even rune readings? It can be frustrating learning new things but it can help to learn with a partner. Other ways to learn about something new in the magick world include reading blogs (like ours!), books, and even trial and error.

There is a world of knowledge for little witches to learn: from building your own grimoire to studying herbs you grew and harvested in your own garden to the study of your natal chart. There is always so much to learn

Magick Alphabet

K is for Knowledge

Within the magickal world, there is no shortage of topics to learn about. One of the best ways to gain knowledge is through books. Books have been written on just about every subject within the magickal world from astral projection all the way to the zodiac. If you need knowledge on a certain subject, you can rest assured there’s a book for that.

Knowledge can also be passed down from friend to friend, family member to family member or even within a coven or community of practitioners. The beauty of magick is that it is meant to be shared unlike in the olden days when magick had to be kept secret and knowledge was learned on a solo basis.

What is your favorite topic to learn about? What books are you reading?
